TrainHeroic and TeamBuildr are the two team platforms strength coaches compare most. Both program a whole team from one calendar, load off each athlete's max, and log offline. The differences that matter are who they are built to bill, how coaches are priced, questionnaires, weight room hardware, integrations, and how you sell training. This page lays them out from each platform's own pages.

> **In short.** TrainHeroic and TeamBuildr both program a team from one calendar and load sets off each athlete's max. Both log offline. TrainHeroic sells to the individual strength coach. It prices by athlete count from $9.99 per month and charges $9.99 per assistant coach. It runs a public Marketplace for selling Teams and Programs. TeamBuildr sells to the organisation. It prices by tier from $90 per month with unlimited coaches. It adds a weight room tablet view, custom questionnaires with thresholds, VBT and force plate integrations, and a Stripe portal with no platform fee. Choose TrainHeroic if you coach a few Teams or 1:1 athletes and want to sell programming. Choose TeamBuildr if you run a school, club, or facility with several coaches and a weight room.

## The short version of each platform

**TrainHeroic** calls itself the premier platform for strength coaches and a training app plus marketplace. Coaches build sessions in a web app and assign them to a Team calendar or a 1:1 athlete calendar. Athletes log in one iOS and Android app, which coaches also use for messaging. Loads are prescribed as a percent of a working max or raised by linear weight progression. Readiness surveys are fixed. The Marketplace sells Team subscriptions, one-time Programs, and Bundles, with TrainHeroic handling billing. The coach plan slides by athlete count from $9.99 per month on the date checked, billed monthly. The iOS app first shipped in 2015.

**TeamBuildr** calls itself strength and conditioning software for strength coaches and gyms. Its homepage claims 5,500+ coaches, teams, and facilities since 2012. Its stated audience is high schools, colleges, professional teams, private performance facilities, and tactical units. Coaches work in a web app, and coaches and athletes share the TeamBuildr Training app on iOS and Android. A shared tablet becomes a workout station through Weight Room View. Percent loading adjusts to each athlete's maxes. Questionnaires are custom, with colour-coded thresholds. Silver is $90 per month or $900 per year for up to 50 athlete profiles on the date checked. Every tier includes unlimited coaches.

## Where TrainHeroic is stronger

**Price at small rosters.** Five athletes cost $17.99 per month on the date checked. Fifteen cost $34.99. TeamBuildr's lowest tier is $90 per month for up to 50 profiles. A coach with a handful of athletes pays for room they never use.

**A public Marketplace.** You list Team subscriptions, one-time Programs, and Bundles, and TrainHeroic handles billing, cancellations, refunds, and support. Marketplace Match sends buyers you did not find yourself, for a 30 percent fee. Marketplace athletes do not count toward your coach plan. TeamBuildr's payments portal serves your own athletes, and no public cross-coach marketplace is described.

**Linear weight progression.** LWP+ raises the prescribed weight from the athlete's last logged set. Working max is a projected 1RM from sets of 15 reps or fewer, using the NSCA load chart. A coach can drop a Test this block session into a calendar. TeamBuildr's Programming with Progressions help article is a video with no text.

**Leaderboards per block.** A coach toggles a leaderboard on any exercise, circuit, or superset and picks reps, weight, or time. TeamBuildr describes dynamic leaderboards without that detail.

**Higher App Store rating and a stated trial.** 4.3 across about 1,800 ratings against 3.2 across 260. On Google Play the order flips, 3.1 against 3.4. The trial is a stated 14 days. TeamBuildr's trial length is not stated.

## Where TeamBuildr is stronger

**Unlimited coaches.** Every tier includes unlimited coaches. On TrainHeroic each assistant coach adds $9.99 per month, so a staff of five assistants adds $49.95.

**Questionnaires you write.** Wellness questionnaires take your own questions and show colour-coded thresholds. A workout can stay locked until the questionnaire is done, and a Questionnaire Report collects the answers. TrainHeroic's five readiness questions cannot be changed. Its help center points coaches to a Google Doc link for anything custom.

**Weight room hardware.** Weight Room View turns one tablet into a station for 4 to 8 athletes. A workout can be cast to a TV or Whiteboard. Both need Platinum. The TrainHeroic pages checked describe no tablet or TV mode.

**Performance technology.** TeamBuildr lists VBT devices from GymAware, Perch, Output, Vitruve, and Enode. It lists force plates from Hawkin Dynamics, VALD, and Sparta Science. It also lists Catapult, Kitman Labs, Smartabase, webhooks, and an API. VBT and API need Platinum Pro. The Force Plate Dashboard is a $20 per month add-on on top of AMS at $50. Wearables sync through Apple Health from Apple Watch, Whoop, Garmin, Polar, and Oura. TrainHeroic offers Zapier and states that its API is closed.

**Payments with no platform fee.** The Stripe Payments Portal is on every tier. It takes recurring memberships or one-time charges, coupons, and Lead In programming. TeamBuildr takes no fee beyond Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢. TrainHeroic charges $1 per subscription per month plus card fees on your own sales. Invited 1:1 athletes are billed outside the platform.

**Annual billing.** Every tier bills annually at 10 times the monthly rate, so a year costs 10 months. TrainHeroic shows no annual option.

**Reports and branding.** 16+ exportable report types, with a Raw Data CSV on Platinum and above. Custom logo and colours come with every tier, plus a custom login page. TrainHeroic states that it does not support white-labelling.

## Pricing, read carefully

The two price models do not line up, so compare the total for your roster and staff. All prices are USD on the date checked.

TrainHeroic prices by athlete count on a slider, billed monthly, with no annual option shown. The tiers step at 1, 5, 15, 25, 35, 50, 100, 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 athletes. Each assistant coach adds $9.99 per month. Marketplace athletes do not count toward the plan. Athlete Pro, at $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year, is paid by the athlete.

TeamBuildr prices by organisation tier with unlimited coaches. Silver is $90 per month or $900 per year for up to 50 profiles. Platinum, at $200 or $2,000, unlocks Weight Room View, TV displays, Pacing, and the Raw Data report. Platinum Pro, at $280 or $2,800, adds VBT, API integrations, and the Annual Planner. A per-athlete overage is not stated.

**5 athletes.** TrainHeroic is $17.99 per month, or $215.88 across 12 months. TeamBuildr Silver is $90 per month, or $900 per year.

**15 athletes.** TrainHeroic is $34.99 per month, or $419.88 across 12 months. TeamBuildr Silver is $90 per month, or $900 per year.

**30 athletes.** TrainHeroic has no 30-athlete tier, so you buy up to 35 at $59.99 per month, or $719.88 across 12 months. TeamBuildr Silver is $90 per month, or $900 per year.

Staff change the picture. A head coach with two assistants at 30 athletes pays $79.97 per month on TrainHeroic and $90 on TeamBuildr. At 50 athletes with the same staff, TrainHeroic is $94.97 and TeamBuildr Silver is $90. Add a tablet view and TeamBuildr becomes Platinum at $200 per month.

Sales fees differ as well. A Team subscription sold on the TrainHeroic Marketplace by your own link costs $1 plus 2.9% + $0.30 each month. The same sale through Marketplace Match costs 30 percent plus card fees. The same membership on TeamBuildr's portal costs Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢.

## Who should pick which

Pick TrainHeroic if you are one coach, or a coach with one or two assistants, running Teams or 1:1 athletes. Pick it if you want to sell programming to strangers and let the platform bill them. Pick it if you want linear weight progression from logged sets and per-block leaderboards. Accept a fixed readiness survey.

Pick TeamBuildr if you run a school, college, club, or facility with several coaches and a shared weight room. Pick it if you need questionnaires with your own questions and thresholds. Pick it for tablet stations, TV casting, VBT or force plate data, or an API. Pick it if you bill your own athletes and want Stripe's fees with nothing on top. Pick it if you want annual billing.

## Where Method sits

[Method](/coaches) is a one-to-one tool with none of the team features above. A [Coach Workspace](/docs/method-for-coaches) costs $19.99 per month for 5 clients and $2.00 per client after that, with a web-only coach side and an iPhone-only client app. Each set takes exact, range, or AMRAP reps, RIR or RPE with half values, rest, tempo, and load as a percentage of another set in the session, with no percent-of-tested-1RM load. It adds check-in templates built from your own questions, form checks with drawings on paused frames, and a publish review that lists every change before it lands. It has no team calendars, leaderboards, tablet view, marketplace, client billing, VBT or force plate integrations, or Android app, so a coach who needs any of those should choose between the two platforms above.

## Common questions

### Is TrainHeroic or TeamBuildr better for a strength coach?

It depends on who pays. TrainHeroic prices by athlete count from $9.99 per month and suits an individual coach running Teams, 1:1 athletes, or a Marketplace store. TeamBuildr prices by organisation from $90 per month with unlimited coaches and adds tablet stations, custom questionnaires, and VBT and force plate integrations for a facility.

### Which is cheaper, TrainHeroic or TeamBuildr?

TrainHeroic at small rosters. On the date checked, 5 athletes cost $17.99 per month on TrainHeroic and $90 per month on TeamBuildr Silver. At 30 athletes TrainHeroic is $59.99 per month and TeamBuildr is still $90. Assistant coaches cost $9.99 each on TrainHeroic and nothing on TeamBuildr, which closes the gap for a staff.

### Do TrainHeroic and TeamBuildr work offline?

Both describe an offline mode. TrainHeroic athletes can view and log sessions without a connection, without videos. TeamBuildr stores results on the phone under poor signal and uploads them when service returns.

### Which has a weight room tablet view?

TeamBuildr. Weight Room View turns a shared tablet into a station for 4 to 8 athletes, and workouts can be cast to a TV or Whiteboard. Both need the Platinum tier or above. The TrainHeroic pages checked describe no tablet or TV mode.

### Can I sell programs on TrainHeroic or TeamBuildr?

Yes on both, in different ways. TrainHeroic runs a public Marketplace for Team subscriptions, one-time Programs, and Bundles, handles billing, and charges per-subscription and card fees. TeamBuildr gives every tier a Stripe payments portal for your own athletes with no TeamBuildr fee. No public cross-coach marketplace is described.
