Method vs CoachRx: individual design coaching with or without the business suite

CoachRx is the closest coaching platform to Method in spirit. Both are built for one-to-one programming, weekly check-ins, and long plans the coach writes by hand. CoachRx adds payments, contracts, habits, nutrition, RxBot, and Android. Method stays narrower and costs less at small rosters.

The short version of each app

CoachRx is made by OPEX Fitness and calls itself the complete platform for individual design coaching. Coaches work in a web app or in coach mode of one mobile app on iOS and Android. Clients use the same app. Programs live on a design calendar with day, week, month, and long-term plan views. The account includes 60+ OPEX templates, weekly check-ins, consultations, and intake forms. Lifestyle Rx adds habits and macros. The Business Suite adds Stripe payments and contracts. RxBot, which CoachRx calls its AI-powered program design assistant, is free for all coaches.

Method is a workout planner and tracker for structured strength and cardio training. The Coach Workspace runs on the web. A coach builds Coach Library programs there and publishes them one client at a time. Clients follow assigned training in the iPhone app, log every set, answer check-ins, send form checks, and message their coach.

Where Method is stronger

Prescriptions carry the numbers a strength coach writes. Each set holds a set type and a rep target as an exact number, a range, or AMRAP. Effort is RIR or RPE with half values, beside rest, tempo, and notes. Load can be a percentage of another set in the session. CoachRx's help center lists tempo, reps, sets, and rest periods. RPE, RIR, and rep ranges are not described on the pages checked.

Publishing shows the client's exact changes before they land. Editing a published program does nothing to the client until you publish again. The publish review lists every change the client will receive. If training days changed, Method offers Publish and reschedule.

Form checks are reviewed on the frame. The coach pauses the video, draws on the paused frame, and leaves a note at that timestamp. The client sees the drawings, the notes, and the summary in the iPhone app. CoachRx's pages describe video uploads and Loom replies. Drawing on the client's video is not described.

Block-scale editing with a preview. The editor has a spreadsheet view, fill, find and replace, and bulk-edit rules that preview before they apply. You can duplicate weeks, reorder days across weeks, and swap an exercise across the whole program.

The record keeps the plan beside the result. Every completed workout stores the prescription it started from, so you see partial sessions and deviations. Trends show estimated 1RM per exercise with the sessions behind each change.

Where CoachRx is stronger

The business runs inside the platform. The Business Suite is included on every plan. It covers Stripe payments, subscriptions, invoices, storefronts, program sales, contracts, waivers, payroll, and 1099 reporting. The fee is your country's standard Stripe fee plus 2 percent. The help center gives the US example as 4.9 percent plus $0.30 per transaction.

Android, iPad, and one app for both sides. CoachRx runs one mobile app with a toggle between coach and client modes. It requires iOS 15.1 or later and is designed for iPad. Method's coach side is web only, and its clients need an iPhone on iOS 26 or later.

Lifestyle Rx covers the rest of the day. Coaches prescribe habits for sleep, water, steps, nutrition, stress, or anything custom, with a compliance calendar. A macro calculator sets calorie and macro targets. Wearables connect through Terra, including Apple Health, WHOOP, Oura, Garmin, and Fitbit.

RxBot and a stocked library. RxBot takes your training days and a written intent and generates a program for you to review, edit, and assign. It is free for all coaches. The Index ships with 60+ OPEX-designed templates and 2,000+ demonstration videos.

Communication, teams, and branding. Coaches reply with Loom recordings, voice notes, GIFs, and emoji reactions. Messages go to individuals, groups, or a broadcast by tag. Organizations carry four roles with no stated limit on coaches. Custom theming puts your color and logo inside the client app. Method has one conversation per client and charges $9.99 per month per extra workspace member.

Pricing, read carefully

Method's Coach Workspace is $19.99 per month in USD on the web, on the date checked. That includes 5 clients and 1 workspace member. Each additional client is $2.00 per month. Annual billing charges 10 months for 12 on every line, so the base is $199.90 per year.

CoachRx prices carry a dollar sign and the pricing page does not name the currency, so read them as USD. On the date checked, 1 to 5 clients was $29 per month or $25 per month billed annually. 6 to 50 clients was $79 per month or $67 per month billed annually. 51 to 150 clients was $199 per month, or $169 billed annually. The homepage FAQ still showed $149 per month for that top tier, so trust the pricing page.

Worked example, monthly billing, one coach, no extra members, on the date checked. At 5 clients, Method is $19.99 per month and CoachRx is $29 per month. At 15 clients, Method is $19.99 plus 10 extra clients at $2.00, so $39.99 per month. CoachRx moves to the 6 to 50 tier at $79 per month. At 30 clients, Method is $19.99 plus 25 extra clients at $2.00, so $69.99 per month. CoachRx stays at $79 per month. Billed annually, CoachRx drops to $25 and $67 per month for those tiers.

CoachRx becomes the cheaper of the two at 35 clients on monthly billing, where Method reaches $79.99. If you bill clients through CoachRx, add 2 percent of what you collect on top of Stripe's fee. Method's web prices are shown in your region's currency on the pricing page.

Who should pick which

Pick CoachRx if you want billing, contracts, and program sales beside your programming. Pick it if you prescribe habits or macros, or if your clients wear WHOOP, Oura, or Garmin. Pick it if you want RxBot to draft a first pass, or if anyone in your roster is on Android.

Pick Method if you write structured strength and cardio programs with RIR or RPE and relative loads per set. Pick it for a publish review before your client sees a change, and form checks you draw on. Pick it if your clients are on iPhone and you bill them outside the platform. Read Method for coaches and the coaching docs for the full workspace.

What Method does not do

Method has no Android app, no iPad app, and no coach app on any phone. It takes no client payments and has no invoicing, contracts, or waivers. It has no habits, nutrition, or sleep tracking. It does not generate programs, draft messages, or write feedback. It has no templates, program sales, marketplace, or group programs. There are no Loom, voice note, broadcast, or scheduled messages. There is no custom-branded app and no Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Fitbit, or Zapier integration. Coach exports do not exist yet.

Common questions

Is Method a CoachRx alternative?
Yes, for coaches who write one-to-one strength and cardio programs and whose clients are on iPhone. Both platforms are built around individual design, weekly check-ins, and long plans. CoachRx is the better fit if you also need client payments, contracts, habit and nutrition tracking, or Android.
Does Method take client payments like CoachRx?
No. Method has no invoicing, packages, subscriptions, or Stripe payments between a coach and a client. CoachRx includes its Business Suite on every plan and charges your country's Stripe fee plus 2 percent on client payments.
Which is cheaper, Method or CoachRx?
At small rosters Method is cheaper. On the date checked, 5 clients cost $19.99 per month on Method and $29 per month on CoachRx. At 15 clients Method is $39.99 per month and CoachRx is $79 per month. CoachRx's flat 6 to 50 tier costs less above 34 clients on monthly billing.
Does Method have an Android app?
No. The Coach Workspace runs on the web and clients use the iPhone app on iOS 26 or later. CoachRx runs one app for coaches and clients on iOS 15.1 or later and on Android.
Does Method have something like RxBot?
No. Method does not generate programs, draft messages, or write feedback for you. You build every program in the Coach Library and publish it to one client at a time.
Can I draw on a client's video in Method?
Yes. A form check review pauses the video, lets you draw on the paused frame, and attaches a note at that timestamp. The client sees the drawings, the timestamped notes, and your summary in the iPhone app.
