Programs, sessions, and exercises

The three objects everything else in Method is built from, and how to choose between them.

Almost every question about "where does this live?" resolves to picking the right one of these three.

Program

A multi-week plan made of weeks and training days. Use it when progression, scheduling, or repeated structure matters.

Saved session

A reusable single workout. Use it when a day should be inserted into several programs, or run on its own.

Exercise

A movement record used inside sessions and programs. Exercise records carry searchable names, aliases, target muscles, equipment, and instructions.

How to avoid rebuilding work

  1. Create the exercise once

Get the exercise record right before using the movement across programs and sessions. Every later use inherits that record.

  2. Save repeatable days as sessions

If a training day is useful outside one program, save it as a session and import it where you need it.

  3. Use programs for planned blocks

When work spans several weeks or needs scheduling, keep the structure in a program.
